Window Coverings and Window Treatments may be used interchangeably, but should have separate meanings!  Hopefully, once the fashionable use of Window Coverings become clearly understood and popularized, surely it should be  changed in our dictionary, and wikipedia, and in the fashion rhetoric world to . . .   Window Coverings!

                  WINDOW COVERINGS:

Is an interior decorating element placed on, in and around or over a window. to enhance the aesthetics of the window and room together.

For example:
.  Maui Shutters are usually installed into the window frame and are horizontal slats, made either of wood or a poly resin that can be stationary or tilt.
.  Window Blinds have horizontal louvers which can open  to a view, and manipulated mostly with cord or modern cordless techniques can be applied.
Types of Blinds include:
-Wooden Blinds
-Faux Wood Blinds
-Aluminnum Blinds

.  Window Shades are a piece of fabric which rolls, stacks or folds, opening to a view only when the shade is rolled up.   Today some shades offer a sheer fabric to see through without rolling up.
.  Window  Soft Coverings are anything made of soft materials.
-  Curtains
-  Drapery

Window Coverings Around The Window are to add a "finish" to window coverings.
-Cornice
-Molding
- Valance


                  WINDOW  TREATMENTS
Include treatment products applied directly to the glass surface:
-  Frosted Glass
-  Smart Glass
-  Stained Glass
-  Tinted Glass

Frosted Glass is produced by the sandblasting or acid etching of clear sheet glass.  It has the effect of rendering the glass translucent by scattering of light during transmission thus blurring images while still transmitting light.























SMART GLASS or SMART WINDOW  refers to 
glass or glazing that changes light transmission properties when voltage, light or heat is applied.  Smart Glass controls the amount of light and thereby heat transmission when activated, the glass changes from transparent to translucent, blocking some of all wavelengths of light.
 





STAINED GLASS is an art and a craft.  Requires artistic skill to conceive an appropriate and workable design, and engineering skills to assemble the piece.  The term stained glass, refer to colored glass as a material or to works created from it.  



        





TINTED GLASS
is a window film generally installed to flat glass in existing buildings.
